Two of the eight required hours independent motor vehicles dealers need to continue operating in Florida are accomplished through this legal updates and legislative issues course. The Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles has designated this course to cover recent changes to state and federal laws that affect auto dealers, as well as common problems related to successfully following the laws of the state. Of particular note is lien handling and new taxes on motor vehicles.
First, we'll review some unique certificate of title issues, like how to identify nonconforming vehicles and what happens when a co-owner of a vehicle dies. Then we'll discover all the electronic filing systems and listings that apply to dealers and how to gain access to them. A review video will define vehicle types that are classified as motor vehicles and the types of dealer licenses in Florida. Next is a thorough discussion on the many taxes and fees that accompany vehicle ownership and sales. Learn the percentage and flat fee amounts of state and local charges.
Lemon law acts and qualifiers are explained in the latter half of the course. State and federal provisions are compared. Then, a series of other recent changes and reminders are explained, including a real world case study and campaign overview. To end the course is a summary video with practical tips for business management.
Videos, scenarios, and images are utilized throughout the course to enhance comprehension for different learning styles. After each lesson, students will be asked a single question about the material.
